Human management: how to make it a daily reality

People management has always been a core practice at Momentum Technologies. It is one of our basic principles to ensure that our employees work in a stable environment adapted to their profile. Sound management that puts people at the heart of its practices must be felt on a daily basis. Whether through actions, culture or corporate values. As HR advisor, Sara sees the day-to-day work of the business team in meeting the needs of our customers and advisors.

Managing mandates

HR advisor testimonial

As part of my job, I get to see first-hand how mandates are managed. The business team receives opportunities and sees who is available to work on them. They take multiple elements into account to ensure the best possible match. They consider the person’s availability, personality, technical skills, aspirations and more! It’s thanks to their close relationship with the consultants that they know all this information. That enables them to work out different possible scenarios and find the best match.

Each time, I’m impressed to see that they know the experience, the technologies used, the position the person wants to move into… It’s their knowledge of all the different parameters that enables them to make the best possible choices! Having the opportunity to observe the processes in place to ensure the best customer-advisor match enabled me to gain a better understanding of human management at Momentum Technologies.

Support from a manager

The support provided by managers and peers is a key element of human management in our company. We are fortunate to be able to count on managers who take the time to guide their teams. Our colleague Fredy experienced this during his last mandate and shares his experience with us.

Manager working with his employee

Employee testimonial

More than an employer, I found Momentum Technologies to be a family that welcomed me, understood me and supported me. They supported me throughout my installation process, as well as in the early stages of my career in Quebec City.

As I was about to begin my first mandate as a BI architect in a Cloud environment, I was a little stressed. I was also lacking in self-confidence, as I really wasn’t expecting this level of challenge. My manager, Abo Amar, after a preparatory meeting on the mandate, noticed my unease. He assured me of his support at my side and that I wouldn’t be alone in this. I was pleasantly surprised by what he did next.

The proximity of a manager

Before the start of my mandate, Abo organized working sessions with me to discuss the BI architecture. He took the time to share his personal experience in the field, as well as guiding me through the work I would have to do throughout my mandate. He also pointed me in the direction of courses I should be taking in relation to the environments I’d be working on [which the company reimbursed me for].

Right from the start of my mandate, he set up a regular follow-up to assist me and help me understand the mission assigned to me. He took the time to show me the right reflexes to have as a BI architect. To help me, he also put me in touch (through work sessions and/or direct links) with other Momentum Technologies colleagues. They didn’t hesitate to give their time and share their experiences to help me better understand my work environment. These actions helped me regain my self-confidence. The follow-ups continued until Abo noticed that I had regained my self-confidence. Nevertheless, he reminded me that if I really felt uncomfortable, I could talk to him about it and Momentum Technologies would take care of finding me another mandate.

The results of human support

This guidance and support have been decisive in my development of skills and in the current course of my career. I quickly regained the confidence and self-assurance to lead projects effectively and share my expertise. It was this experience that motivated my rapid transition from Analyst to Architect. Today, I feel fulfilled and very comfortable in my role. Which wouldn’t have been easy given the way I would have left without the help I received. I’m both surprised and moved by it, because it’s something I’d never experienced before.

The human side of an employer who supports you and helps you, both morally and technically, so that you feel more at ease and fulfilled, is a powerful thing. Momentum Technologies is truly a family with all its values. I’ve experienced human management and I can tell you, it’s pure happiness to be able to feel that way.
